BCIC President Mr. Kishore Alva Calls on Mr. Vijay Bhaskar, Chief Secretary, GoK Appeals Government to Convert Hebbal Lake into A Mini Forest and Wild Life Sanctuary

Mr. Kishore Alva, President BCIC & Joint President and Executive Director, Adani - Udupi Power Corporation Ltd. called on Mr. Vijay Bhaskar, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka (GoK) to discuss on a wide range of issues concerning industrial growth in the State and how BCIC can actively partner with the Government in improving and promoting investment opportunities in the State.

As a first step towards sending right signals to the investing communities, BCIC made an earnest plea to the Government to convert Hebbal Lake, which is the gateway to Bangalore City for visitors, into a mini forest and a wildlife sanctuary. Mr. Kishore Alva said: “The first green spot which visitors see is the Hebbal Lake. We want the Government to utilise the vast periphery of Hebbal Lake to create a green buffer zone which will automatically attract exotic flora and migratory birds from not only India but also far of countries.”

He further said: “The World criss-crosses Bangalore city –Presidents, Prime Ministers, Ministers, Bureaucrats and other dignitaries pass through Hebbal Lake. If afforestation is fast-tracked in Hebbal Lake, in a few years from now, we can create another massive green lung space similar to Bannerghatta National Park right in the city”.

Improving connectivity between Bangalore International Airport and the Bangalore City Centre will surely enhance brand equity of Karnataka, particularly Bangalore City which is home to several niche domestic and transnational companies.

During the meeting Mr. Kishore Alva highlighted a few key bottlenecks with regard to Ease of Doing Business in the State. He said: “To further strengthen our positioning and investors’ confidence, additional concrete initiatives and measures need to be undertaken by the Government so that brand equity of the State especially, Bangalore City is promoted as the Manufacturing and Service sector hubs by way of more business-friendly policies.”

Mr. Vijay Bhaskar, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka while acknowledging the efforts initiated by the newly elected President of BCIC Mr. Kishore Alva to reach out to the State Government said that he would be keen to partner with BCIC in promoting investments in the State.
