Executive Summary

Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC), under the aegis of its ICT Expert Committee, are proposing to host an Awards event on the 8 th June, to identify, promote and support early stage Technology Startups and Innovators from Karnataka in an Inclusive manner.

The target is to identify startups and innovators who are still at an early stage and need all the visibility, validation, mentorship and support from the industry. We are also planning to specifically encourage startups in the areas of Social Impact, Assistive Technology, Women-led and Student-Led innovations.

We plan to host the Awards ceremony as part of an Innovation themed Technology event in early June, which will be attended by people from across the IT Industry in Bangalore.

The Awards event will be part of a broader framework BCIC is working on to also support the Innovators/Startups identified through the Awards process, with Industry Mentorships and connects to Funding and Infrastructure ecosystems.

A total of 11 Innovators will be identified and awarded.

Criteria for Entry for the Awards:

Unfunded Startup/Innovator

Startup Registered in Karnataka

Students from college’s Registered in Karnataka

Startup Registered on Women leading the Innovation

A fully working model/product is already developed, market identified, impact identified, commercialisation and revenue model/approach drawn out

Awards:

A proposed cash amount of ₹ 100,000 will be given out to each of the above 11 Winners

Evaluation:

A two stage evaluation will be undertaken.

Stage 1: Offline evaluation of all entries using hard criteria outlined above. Outcome is to bring out a maximum of 15 finalists in each of the two main categories.

Stage 2: Short Presentations by the Finalists will be organised with Jury from the industry and academia to decide on the winners.

Outreach:

BCIC will endeavour to reach out to the maximum number of Startups and Colleges to ensure the message on the award is spread and we do not miss out reaching out to intended audience.

Mailers will be sent to all startups in Karnataka

A limited Social Media campaign will be undertaken by BCIC to spread the message

Circulars to be sent to Universities and colleges across Karnataka with Posters

Mailers will be sent to co-working spaces and tech parks to circulate amongst its members

Mailers will be sent to agencies working with Startups in Karnataka

Mailers will be sent to some of the companies with incubation cells (e.g. Accenture, NetApp, etc.) to support the outreach through their circles

Mailers will be sent to all of BCIC and its affiliate/partner associations

Mailers will be sent to women empowerment cells

Partnership Request:

We are looking for industry leaders who will partner with BCIC to support the identified winners through an Award, Incubation and mentorship. The goal is to provide support to the identified innovators to reach their commercial goals. This is primarily but not limited to the winners of the Award contest.

Award Sponsorship Request:

BCIC also proposes an alternate option for financial sponsorship for the awards (without a formal partnership model):

Support with the Prize money + Involvement in the evaluation process + Mentorship

Sponsorship Amount:

Complete Sponsorship – all Awards 1,200,000 The partner wishes to sponsor the entire set of 11 awards. Amount calculated as (11 awards x 100,000) + 100,000 for administration and organisation.
Social Innovation Awards only 650,000 The partner wishes to sponsor 6 awards in Social category. Amount calculated as (6 awards x 100,000) + 50,000 for administration and organisation.
Disruptive Innovation Awards 550,000 The partner wishes to sponsor 5 awards in Social category. Amount calculated as (6 awards x 100,000) + 50,000 for administration and organisation.

Sponsor Entitlements:

Awards sponsored will bear Partner name along with BCIC

Access and connect to winners and other high potential startups who are contestants for the Award – possibility of forming partnerships to fund them forward and commercial partnership with winners and others

Innovation Event Sponsorship Request

Executive Summary

Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC), under the aegis of its ICT Expert Committee, are proposing to host an Innovation event on the 8 th June, 2018. The theme for this Event will be Startups, Innovation and Products, the name of the event will be “BCIC Innovation Day”. The full day event will showcase a number of speaker sessions from very senior leaders from the industry and will be multi-track. The event is intended to showcase breakthrough innovations in our industry today and technological possibilities around us.

This event will also include the Awards session for “BCIC Inclusive Innovation Awards 2018” to identify, promote and support early stage Technology Startups and Innovators from Karnataka in an Inclusive manner. The target of this award is to identify startups and innovators who are still at an early stage and need all the visibility, validation, mentorship and support from the industry. We are also planning to specifically encourage startups in the areas of Social Impact, Assistive Technology, Women-led and Student-Led innovations.

The planning for topics and speakers for the event is underway at this moment. The topics will be broadly from the following areas but not limited to:

The speakers are being selected keeping in mind they are the best of the industry and acclaimed professionals and SMEs in their areas. (Please refer to the BCIC ICT Event Portfolio for recent past events for list of topics and speakers and we are continuously striving to better our past events every time).

We are targeting a total audience of ~500 – 600 for this event. This will be a Free event – part of the audience are going to be invited from curated list of organisations and senior and technical roles, especially to GCCs/prominent Product companies/Large service companies, a host of senior representations will be there from startups (as we will also host the “BCIC Inclusive Innovation Awards 2018” during this event), and some of the passes will be opened up through public mediums like EventsHigh/Explara and also through targeted channels like “Meetup” and also through Social Media. The intent for BCIC to keep this event free for the audience is that we want to promote Innovation within the industry by raising awareness by telling Innovation Stories, and make it accessible to the interested, deserving and relevant personnel from the Industry.

There will be an extensive Outreach undertaken on account of the Awards contest, hence will act as promotion vehicle for promotion for the event and its sponsors.

*Event Brochure-cum- Notepad (EBN) will be a printed spiral bound copy that will contain the Event Details, Agenda, Speaker Bios, Ads from Sponsors, blank ruled pages for participants for taking note and future use, details on BCIC, etc. We will adopt this concept as loose pages are always left behind by attendees and not read. A notepad will certainly be carried home and be used for a long time and sponsor value through the ad pages will be maximised.

**Sponsor Organisations can let us know which organisations/individuals they would like us to invite to maximise their sponsor value. The mentioned number of passes will be secured for that.
